My first blog post pregnancy. This one has been floating around in my head for some time now. We didn't have internet for a while and I have been running over the wording in my head. And, I just had to make myself sit down and start typing. The thought that led to this blog hit me one night when I was rocking Deacon. I feel like it's something that most other people probably had already thought of and wrapped their head around and I am just the slacker who finally got it. Forgive me for that. But maybe somebody else will have an "AH-HA" moment with this. Or maybe typing it out is all for me too. I tend to really solidify things when I type them out. My brain fully "gets it" as I have to think to write it out.
I was rocking Deacon and I was thinking about God the Father and sending His son and that relationship. Which led me to thinking about how we are heirs with Christ and children of God also. And that thought led to...every part of the Trinity represents a relationship in our life.
God the Father. This one is the relationship with our parents and with our children. People often say that we view the Father a lot like we did our own earthly Father. We see his discipline, his love, and his grace as we were given from our own Father(and mother too). Some people might view him completely the opposite from their earthly parents. IF they had a very strained relationship or abusive parent, and they have found a personal relationship with God, they see what should have been. We also see our relationship with our children here. How we should parent. Seeing how the Father is with us, that is what we should try our very hardest to mimic. This whole thought could go so much deeper and be so much more eloquent, but I wouldn't do it justice. Plus I think you get the idea, and if you want to take it deeper, you will do your own self reflection, as I have been.
Jesus and His Bride. This relationship is your marriage. If you don't have one yet, the one you should seek. Jesus should be the love of our life. The way he pursues us, and sings over us, and deeply desires us. We should seek out a man(or woman, if a man is reading this) who does those things. Marriage exists to give us a picture of Jesus and the Church. I don't believe in 'soul mates.' Just don't. That's a whole other blog though. But I believe that we choose someone and they choose us and if we allow God is in the midst of it and over how ever long he allows you to walk this life together He will daily grow us and let your marriage be a better and better reflection of the love of Christ. Every day you will learn more about forgiveness, selflessness, grace, and a love of action.
The Holy Spirit..The Counselor. This relationship are family and friends. Those people who hold you up and walk with you. Those people who make you better. Those that you seek out or maybe just show up when you need it most. The ones who tell you when you are being an idiot, and you know they do so out of love. Those who are your biggest cheerleaders. Those who bring you such a joy that you often find yourself looking around the table when you are with them and having to hold back the thankful tears. Those that you are more than willing to turn a coffee pot on at 9pm for. (ya'll, 9pm is late..don't judge) Those older ladies(or men) who have lived(and are living) life so well that you want to be them one day. Those younger people who you randomly get texts from that tell you that they miss you and that you influenced them. Those that you go weeks, maybe years, without seeing but a text or phone call or visit is never awkward because you just have that connection. You know them. As you read this your mind flashed to those people. If it didn't, drop everything and get on your knees. I ain't kidding. Ask the Father. Just like your earthly parents, He wants you to have good people. He wants you to want good people. You sincerely ask, and I will guarantee you He will send someone. Promise.
The thing about typing this I just realized, these are all my favorite relationships. I would like to say my marriage and Jesus are my favorite. But then again, God sent Jesus and Jesus whole purpose is to give Glory to the Father. And without my earthly parents, I wouldn't be me and I wouldn't be able to do what I do a lot of days without their help. And Deacon is just the cutest little baby boy ever, I promise(yes, I am biased and no, I do not care.) And the Holy Spirit, He is guiding me and growing me and helping me serve daily. My friends they just fill me up. They bring me such joy and laughter. And then, another thought hit me just now. THAT IS THE WHOLE STINKIN' POINT. We shouldn't be able to pick one. They should all be our favorite. I think I just understood the Trinity better than I have my whole life. They all work together to make us who we are. Different purposes. We need all 3.
