YOU ARE GOOD!

Last night God kept me up until 1 o'clock.  If you know me, you know I love to sleep.  Usually when He does this I know He is wanting me to pray about something or somebody.  Usually it is somebody, but last night He wanted to reveal some truth to me.  I started praying and I said, "Lord, I know that I am not good, but that you are."  I know, a simple prayer.  We say that pretty much all the time, right.  "There is nothing good in me except Jesus."  And God smacked me. He said "Who told you that you are not good?  You are beyond good.  You are WONDERFUL.  You are a conqueror.  You are a beautiful woman that I sought out and paid a place for in blood.  Yes, I am the source of your righteousness and your goodness.  I am the best there is and I live inside of you.  That makes you amazing!"  Our society has the mentality that if you claim to have any good or be good at something, you are cocky.  I don't think that is how God meant for it to be.  I believe He specifically gave us talents to be good at so that we could further the kingdom.  Our job is to realize those talents, grab on to them, and go to work using them.  I believe we will still mess them up, but that doesn't make us bad at them.  Chef's still burn meals, artists mess up artwork, lawyers lose cases, etc.  Very rarely do you hear someone say what they are good at, and if someone else points out to them that they are good at something, they shut them down pretty quickly.  "Oh no, I just got lucky.  I am not really good at that"  I think we need to stop that.  That is Satan trying to get in our heads and make us believe that we cannot be of service to God.  That we don't have anything useful or meaningful to lay before Him.   I believe we need to give God the credit for it and maybe every now and then briefly pat ourselves on the back.  I also believe that we need to start pointing out others strengths to them.  Every now and then we need help seeing what we are good at.  Sometimes we overlook something that is a strength in our life.  When people point it out, we begin to believe it ourselves.  So I am asking you to look at yourself and ask God to reveal to you just what talents He has given you.  What are you good at?  Proclaim it today.  Go look in the mirror and say it.  I did last night laying in bed.  It's okay to be good at things.  Thank God for them.  Give Him credit, and be joyful about it.  Start telling your girlfriends what they are good at.  They might need reminding.  Then, walk a little taller because the Creator of the Universe, who spins everything in motion, loved you enough to carefully plan out who you were going to be and the talent He would give you to help Him show His love to the world.  Isn't that so cool?  So here goes:  "I am Haley Terry.  I am a good cook.  I am a good foster mother.  I am a good teacher.  I am a good writer(that was one of those I didn't see but I had some friends who pointed it out, so I am claiming it!)."
