Today starts Lent. Are any of you observing Lent? Just curious as to what you chose to fast from. Love to hear from you. For those of you who have been reading and knew I was not going to start today but tomorrow. Well I got convicted and started today. Just didn't want to be a liar on my blog. Today my plan is to complete my blogging on Matthew. I am trying to catch the blog up to where I am in my daily reading. When I do catch up, I will only have notes on 2 chapters a day. That should make it easier for those of you who are keeping up. I also wanted to ask that if you don't mind would you "follow" my blog. There should be a button on the blog to click to follow it. Just follow the steps! Thanks in advance!
Matthew 26:
Verses 6-13: Natalie Grant's "At Your Feet." That song says it all. One of my most favorite songs.
Verses 14-16: Judas is so often overlooked in the Bible. We just say he betrayed Jesus and move on. He intrigues me. I watch a lotof crime shows. I love the ones that examine the "why" of things. I want to know why Judas did it. I know greed, but how did he get to that point. How did he see all he saw and still turn his back? Were the other disciples mean to him? Was his family in trouble back home? I believe there is so much to this story that we just do not understand. We make him seem terrible, but there was something to him that wanted to be good. He later gave the money back and tried to undo it. He killed himself because of his guilt. I wish someone far more intelligent than me would do a study on him so I could learn more.
Verse 22: Apparently, they were all afraid of falling. They knew Satan was lurking.
Verse 39: He did not want to die painfully or take on the sins of the world, but He was willing. That is love.
Verse 41: "The Spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak."
Verse 53: The fact that Jesus did not call down angels always amazes me. Such self control.
Verse 75: Peter wept bitterly. Have you ever screwed up and cried uncontrollably? I have. The fact that Peter walked and talked with Jesus physically, and the love that was between them, and then to realize that he had denied his Lord. It broke his heart. Makes me want to hug Peter.
Matthew 27:
Verses 3-10: Again, my heart aches for Judas. Also again, I am amazed at the fulfilling of prophecy. So cool.
Verses 11-23: Pilate tried to get out. If only have a little more courage or integrity. Standing against a crowd is hard though. Especially one of that size.
Verse 32: I wish we knew more about this Simon. Did he feel sorry for Jesus? Did he carry the cross just because the guards made him?
Verse 50: "And yielded up his spirit." I love that it doesn't say "died". He was in total control of the situation and gave his spirit up.
Verse 51: One of my favorite verses: I can now enter the Holy of Holies because of this! Just as I am , whenever, wherever.
-God bless Joseph of Arimathea. He wanted the body of Jesus to be respected in death.
Matthew 28:
Verse 3: I want to see an angel and hear one. (I say that but I would probably pee my pants if I did!)
Verses 1-10: I LOVE that Jesus first showed himself to women!
Verses 19-20: No nation above another. Our job is just to go and make disciples.
