Hard Day.

Today was one of the hardest days so far at our job.  We had a little boy who had captured our heart.  He was here about 3 months.  He went to a foster home today.  We know that is why we are here.  To love them and nurture them until something more permanent can become available.  Knowing it doesn't always make it easier though.  Our house is much quieter tonight and I did not have a little one crawl in my lap for a story.  I am so very thankful that I got the blessing of interacting with him and loving him for a little while.  He was one of the ones that I knew we made a difference with.  THAT is rewarding.

We have finally made it to Mark in the scriptures.  Some of these are repeat stories from Matthew.  The Gospels do that.  They are from different view points so you will get different details.  I will try my hardest not to point out the same things.

Mark 1:

-I would love to sit down for dinner with John the Baptist(JTB).  He had such insight.  Plus, he was Jesus's cousin. Pretty cool.

Verses 9-11:  Can you imagine the conversations between JTB and Jesus????  WHOA!

Mark said in verses 1-13 what it took Matthew 4 chapters to say.  We all take things in a different way.  That is one reason I hope you are all reading along.  You might see something that I totally miss.

Verses 16-20:  He called 2 sets of brothers that were fishermen.  Was there a significance to them being brothers and/or fisherman?? Brothers are loyal especially ones that work together.  Maybe that is one reason they got called??

Verses 21-22:  I cannot wait to sit and hear Jesus.  There are people who are super talented teachers but to hear it straight from the source! OH MY, SO EXCITED!!!

Verse 34:  He didn't let the demons speak because they knew Him.  Crazy.  "Hey, demon, keep your mouth shut."  In awe of my Jesus.

Verses 43-45:  I would like to think that if Jesus told me to keep quiet, I would.  BUT, if I had an illness my whole life, begged for healing, received healing immediately by the Son of God ..I might not be able to hold it in either!

Mark 2:

1-5:  Amazing friends. Amazing faith.  Determination.  The guy was healed not because of anything he did, but because his friends did "the work".  Sometimes we have to do the 'work' for our friends.  Sometimes they simply can't.  Other times, they don't realize how 'sick' they are.  Either way it is totally and completely rewarding to see them healed.  Get yourself some friends that will do the work when you cannot.  Also make  sure you are a friend willing to do the work.

Verse 14:  I had this big thing typed up about why was it important that Levi was called when he was not listed in the 12 disciples.  Then Sarah reminded me that Levi was Matthew.  That is why it was important.  He was one of the twelve.  I forgot.  Oops.  Sarah is one of my friends who does work for me when I come up short.  :)  He was a tax collector so I am assuming the person that the religious leaders were mad about Jesus associating with was him.  He got to be in on the inner circle.  God has a neat way of working things out.

Verse 27:  The Sabbath is Holy but we must remember why.  We must never put the day above loving people.

Mark 3:

Verses 1-6:  When we put Law and Rules about loving like Jesus, we have missed the entire point.

Verse 21:  Jesus's family was concerned.  This proves that even some of his family did not believe, even though He did so much to prove it.

Verses 31-35:  Here he was proving a point that we all become on family under the blood.  Something tells me though, that Jesus went out to talk with his mother after this.  Sometimes you just need your Momma.  Mary was chosen for a very special reason.  I believe he loved her deeply and confided in her.
