I was hoping to have some profound thought to begin this blog, but I don't. I am sure you are shocked. I have about a hundred different thoughts crashing around in this crazy brain of mine and none of them are complete enough for me to do a deep blog on. Some of the thoughts are: 1. God has given me friends or deepened relationships with friends I already had right when I needed them. 2. I am getting daily emails from Haley Rae and the growth I am 'seeing' from her is unbelievable. The Holy Spirit will move deeply in you when you do exactly what He calls you to do. 3. Reconciling the OT and the NT are extremely hard. Actually, it ticks me off pretty good sometimes. I question God often in this area. (God is okay with questions. He loves to be faithful and answer or prod you to study harder.) I have had several discussions lately on reconciling OT treatment of women and NT treatment of women. Still searching. 4. Started Nehemiah bible study today. Kelly Minter says this "Most of us have hearts that break for matters personally affecting us, but how many of our hearts break over the suffering of others?" Hits you in the gut right? 5. I read Korie and Willie Robertson's book this week and she talks about how adoption is not just the calling of some people but of all Christians. I have always believed this and been told that everyone isn't called to it. I disagreed but kept my mouth shut. The more biblical research I do, and the more numbers I see on American children up for adoption the more I believe that it IS the job of every Christian family to foster/adopt. I believe it is biblical. BUT my stats are not all there yet, so that blog cannot happen yet. I have had several people come up to me lately and say that they are reading the blog. That makes my heart soar. Thank you. I am asking for ALL of you who read the blog to give me a slight bit of feedback please. What do you want to hear about? I would love to type a few blog that people ask for. A subject that isn't listed here. One that makes me do some research and formulate and opinion or one that I have an opinion on and you just want to hear. Please, pretty please (yeah, I'm begging) comment for me so I can have something to write about :)
Mark 9:
Verse 4: I wonder what Jesus discussed with Elijah and Moses?
Verse 29: There are different kinds of demons.
I wonder this a lot. It is a touchy subject. I understand that everyone with mental illness, seizure, etc are NOT possessed by a demon. They are genuine medical issues. BUT I wonder how many people who suffer from some of those might be possessed? It was VERY common in biblical times so I think we would be naive to think it is not all around us now. Spiritual warfare is VERY real. I believe our hearts have become hardened to this so we don't 'see' it as much.
Verse 34: They were quiet because they knew they would get in trouble. Just like little kids.
Verse 42: This scares me. My calling is with young people. I want to teach them hope, love, compassion, respect, and trust. I pray I never cause them to stumble.
Mark 10:
Verse 1: "And again, as was his custom, he taught them." Mark sounds bored or irritated. Like.."OH he is just teaching again." I wonder how often they heard the same stories.
Verse 15: I pray often to have a childlike faith. TO just take God at his Word and not over analyze. NOt worry about feelings. Just be all in.
Verse 21: "And Jesus, looking at him, loved him..." Jesus knew the man wouldn't leave his possessions yet he still loved him. SO true in our lives. He knows our hold ups. The things we just won't let go of, or the ones we let go of just to pick back up again later. And he loves us still.
Verse 48: I love that Bartimaeus cried out even louder when they tried to hush him. He knew these people did not matter. Jesus hearing him call out was all that mattered. He called out with all he had. Amen. The sad part of this is that I wonder how many people had yelled out before this and, when they were hushed, they had less courage than Bart and did not continue yelling. How many did the crowd prevent from being healed? How many do we prevent now??? "You are to young." "You can't do THAT!" "It will never work" "Don't cause a scene." OH what a little encouragement could do for the kingdom of God.
