We all need an Elizabeth.

I am developing a curiosity about Elizabeth from the Bible.  Not very much is written about her in the Bible.  I know that she was older because when the angel informed Zechariah that they would have a baby, Zechariah questioned it, and when she found out she was very thankful and stated that she was old and that God had taken her disgrace away.  I think she found favor with God.  She was to give birth to John the Baptist.  That seems pretty important to me.  I also think she was important because as soon as Mary found out that she was pregnant, she went to Elizabeth.  Elizabeth must have been pretty in tune with God because she was filled with the Holy Spirit as soon as Mary spoke to her, her baby leaped inside of her, and she prophesied that Mary was blessed and so was the child that Mary was carrying.  I think she must have been VERY wise because the Bible says in Luke 1:56 that Mary stayed with Elizabeth for about 3 months.  They went through some of their pregnancy together.   Maybe they had morning sickness together.  Maybe they spent a lot of time preparing for the joy and heartbreak that would befall on them both.  Maybe Elizabeth was Mary's safe haven from the scorn. Maybe they made clothes for their babies together.  I don't really know, these are just some thoughts.  This made me think of Elizabeth's in my life, which made me SO thankful for my Sunday school class.  I attend a women's Sunday school class.  If you want to know the "age group"..umm...it's undefined.  HA!  I think we are from 23 to over 50, and WE LOVE IT!  We come from all sorts of family situations, home lifes, and walks of life, and it does not matter.  This group of women daily prays for one another, loves each other, and supports each other.  I believe one of the key elements to our spiritual growth is fellowship.  The conversation and love that comes from this group has helped me grow in just a short amount of time.  Laughter can be heard from us often, but we have cried tears for each other.  Hugs are given in joy and support.  Pain is inevitable in life but I feel that with people surrounding you like this it makes tough times easier.  I also believe that with people surrounding you like this it makes the joys better(if that makes sense).  We all need Elizabeth's in life.  If you do not have one....find one.  Life will be better because of it.  If you do have one...maybe take the time to thank them this week.  To the ladies in my Sunday school class:  I am truly thankful for you :)
