My past couple of blogs have had some strongly spiritual overtones. I never really know what I am going to blog about until something gets on me enough that I have to let it spill out. This blog has turned into my public diary. Poor you. I felt like I was misleading people...like, all she does is have these amazing God moments..like I read my Bible all the time and stay in a constant state of prayer. I do have AMAZING God moments, but I am far from in my Bible as much as I should be, and I so want to strengthen my prayer life. I felt like I had made myself look too good. SO I wanted to talk about something that would describe me. I thought long and hard about how to get to 'know' somebody, and the best way I can figure is to look at their DVR player. If they will record it to watch it, it is something they enjoy. SO I thought I would write about my favorite shows and why. This blog will show you how much of a nerd I am AND a bit more of the ol'personality.
I should warn you that my husband and I are addicted to our DVR player so this list is lengthy.
My favorite are crime shows. Shows that have a 'who done it' and 'why ' involved. Criminal Minds wins this category, not the new one. I love figuring out why people do things that they do and this is the show for that. It also doesn't hurt that Shemar Moore may very well be the most beautiful person on the planet. My husband would argue that the girl who plays JJ is. He is so excited about her return. SVU is also in this category. Something about the dynamics of this show just pulls me. Rizzoli and Isles is becoming one of my favorites. You cannot go wrong with Angie Harmon, plus for you long time NCIS lovers, the actress who played Kate, plays Isles. The Famous Jett Jackson(old school Disney) plays Rizzoli's partner. I have even begun reading these books now. NCIS used to be a favorite but becoming repetitive. Abbey saves the show for me. House rounds out this category. His criminals are diseases but it is still a 'figuring something out' show. I love the characters and the plots here.
Glee is next. Judge me if you want. Yes, there are some things I disagree with..there are on EVERY show. I LOVE musical theater and this is the closest to seeing it on a weekly basis that I can get. It makes me smile every time they bust out in song. I have the soundtracks(thank you Taylor Britton!) and sing my heart out to them in my car. I also love that they take a typical stereotype and beat it into the ground. The dumb cheerleader, the music nerd, and OCD teacher. LOVE it!
Pretty Little Liars is wonderful. I have read all 9 books and will read every one that comes out after it. The intrigue of this show is more than ANY other I have ever watched. Right when I have it figured out they throw a loop in there. The books and the show are far enough different to keep me on my toes. It is really good. It is a typical girl show. Nothing too philosophical except if you just tell the truth, you keep a lot of bad things from happening.
For the comedy, Big Bang is the winner. This show makes me laugh harder than any other show I have ever watched. If you have never watched and want a good laugh, please try this show. Nerds, Indians, Jews, dumb blondes, OCD, and mix it all together...you get a lot of laughs. I am also a fan of Mike and Molly. Mom and Dad turned Dustin and I on to this one and they were right. It is funny. The premise is 2 obese people fall in love. One is a teacher with a crazy divorced mom and a sister who smokes pot all the time. The other is a cop with a mom who is a weird dog lady and a best friend who lives with his grandmother. Add in the Jamaican waiter and you have a show! I had gotten sick of Two and A Half Men with Charlie Sheen, but I had to see the Ashton Kutcher version last night and I enjoyed it very much. I will continue watching for now.
Last is the reality section...I don't get into many girly shows like Bachelorette or even gameshow ones like Survivor. I do have sad obsessions though. I cried 3 times last week as I watched the final Kate Plus 8. You can judge me if you want. I read all of her books and I have watched those kids grow up on that show. I think she is far from perfect, but so am I. I enjoyed seeing them all come into their personalities and get to see the world. I will miss it. And her crazy yelling. I also watch Celebrity Rehab. I have no idea why. I get sucked into it and cannot NOT watch. I guess I enjoy the psychological aspect of seeing where these celebs went wrong. I find it intriguing. My husband makes fun of me for it. Lastly, I watch Hungry Girl. For all you dieters...it is wonderful. She has a website and email that comes everyday and the show is full of tips for eating better, and keeping lots of yumminess!
I watch a few other shows here and there but these are the ones I HAVE to have. Glee started back tonight and I cannot wait for next week! Idina Menzel is returning and I would give anything for her to do a number from Wicked with Lea Michelle...yes I just nerded out on you. Rizzoli and Isles season finale was last week, so there is a break from it. Criminal Minds should be starting soon, as should House. PLL will have a Halloween special then I will have to wait for that saga to continue in January. I love this time of year when most shows are returning to air. I also love the luxury of a DVR. There is so much more to life than TV, but I do enjoy it. I think these shows are all over the place, much like I am. What shows are you watching this season??
