Here is a random fact you will need later on: I keep earplugs by my bed because, not only does my husband snore loud enough to wake the dead, so does his enormously lovable lab/bulldog mix. I use them most nights.
My weekend started with eating at El Portal with several of my Bible study girls. The rest were to meet up with us later. We made it through the meal without incident. I then took them to WalMart and let them pick out some junk food for my house. The incident happened immediately here. We get in the door, I begin pushing my buggy and Haley Rae Garnett asks for funfetti cake mix. I told her no, I was not cooking a cake. She begged and I continued to say no while saying yes to other requests of cookie dough and brownie mix. She asked again, I again said no and she laid down in the floor and began whinning. I have 6 girls stopping to stare at the 17 year old throwing the fit. I say leave her there and come on. I left her in the middle of the store. She caught back up in a few and begged for something new. I gave in on her second, more reasonable request but she did NOT get funfetti. It was actually pretty funny. If you know Haley Rae you can see this happening and you are probably laughing right now! Next, we went to my house where the rest of the girls met us. I ended up with 12 girls there. We did Bible study and pigged out on sweets. I hope they learned a lot. I finally called in quits at 1:30 a.m. After I made sure everybody had somewhere to sleep and a blanket and threatened their lives if someone snuck out I think I laid down at 2. This leads to the earplugs. Not only did they come in handy for tuning out the loud snores coming from my room, but they also drowned out the giggles and such that came from my living room until what I hear was about 4 am. I did get up about 5 and count them all to make sure they were still there. I cooked bacon and pancakes for breakfast. Then the second incident happened. The bathroom somehow got locked with no one in it. I thought Sloan was going to wet herself. She and I tried and tried to pick the lock with no luck. Haley Rae gets up from the table and in one try, opens it. Apparantly the Garnett's are masterminds at this(not sure if it's good or not) because Hunter picked it all Winter to pour cold water on people in the shower. I then sent these wonderful young ladies on their way and took a LONG nap.
That leads to Block Party. I LOVE this event SO much. It is a wonderful time of our church giving to the community. People come for miles around to receive free stuff. My team and I gave away 505 school supply bags in 15 mins. Amazing. Seeing kids playing games, getting their face painted, and jumping in the blowup things is so rewarding because a lot of them do not get to do it any other time. I know somebody probably got something free that they did not need. Who cares. We are doing our part and God can handle the rest. I hope we do the block party forever. I have more fun with it each year.
Sunday wasn't too crazy. Just a wedding and a wedding shower back to back. The wedding was beautiful and I am glad I got to spend some time with the Wilson family. A little sad that we missed JP and Charleston, but they had to get on the road before we arrived.
A crazy, fun-filled weekend that hopefully has some lasting, maybe even eternal effects. Yep, total success.
