Chance to Grow

SO...I guess this is now becoming a blog for book reviews but I have another recommendation for you:  The Shack.   I just finished it this week and I loved it.  It is a wonderful tale of faith, mystery, and redemption.  It changed my perspective on how I view the Holy Trinity and made me wonder about some other things.  The good kind of wonder.  The kind that makes you review things you have always perceived to be true and make sure that they are biblical or even factual.  I enjoy books that make me question myself and things I believe in.  I believe the only way to be sure of yourself and your faith is to question those ideals regularly.  God will send things all along the way to help you update your value system and perceptions.  You have to examine them and take them in.  Those people who just believe what their momma and daddy believe because they have been taught it and never question it or put it to work are, in my opinion, shallow Christians.  Push yourself.  Redefine yourself.  Don't put Christ in a box and assume he will never bust out of it.  He cannot be put in a box and will constantly show you knew sides of himself, if you let him.  Both of the books I have read recently forced me to so.  There are all kinds of things in life that will challenge and redefine your faith.   Chance encounters with random people, relationships, the smile of a child, books, a movie, a song, or many other things.  Embrace those opportunities to grow and never forget them.
